Wedding Planning Self Care Tips

As much as deciding to elope or have an intimate wedding already shrinks wedding-day nerves to a fraction of what they would be for a traditional wedding, elopement planning can still be stressful! From selecting a meaningful location to have your ceremony, to finding an officiant, to choosing a photographer, there is a lot on your plate.

In these months of planning and waiting for your big day, it is important to make time for some self care. Take time out of each day to focus on yourself. There are many things you can do during this time to rejuvenate your body and clear your mind, and the best self-care routine may differ from person to person! Here are some of our best tips for how to improve your overall state of being before your elopement.

Exercise regularly to release endorphins into your body. Whether this is running to an upbeat and fun playlist, playing your favorite sport with a friend, or rolling out your yoga mat, physical activity is good for your mental health. Even just five minutes of stretching in the morning or taking your dog for a walk can make the biggest difference in your overall state of being.

Do something you love. You’re never too busy to do something that puts a smile on your face. If you love reading, go to your local library or download an E-book and find a great new novel to read and fall in love with the characters. If you like being outside and enjoying nature, lay out at the beach, put up a hammock, or just sit on your balcony or deck and breathe in the fresh air. Paint your nails, get your hair done, or get a massage; just treat yourself with a spa day that’s all about you. If something makes you happy, go for it!

Don’t be afraid to try new things. Maybe you pick up a daily meditation routine to clear your head. Maybe you start setting weekly goals to feel accomplished as you check each one off your list. Maybe you pick up a new hobby or interest and spend time getting good at it or learning all about it. Find something that excites you or makes you feel fulfilled, and stick with it. Whatever it is, trust the process!

And finally, don’t forget the little things. It is important to have a well balanced diet and eat three meals a day. Get those 8 hours of sleep, or whatever your body needs to function at its best. Drink plenty of water. Maybe even complement yourself! You’re amazing – don’t forget that!
